The aim and goal of these classes is not only to prepare for the Rite of Confirmation, but to be refreshed in Lutheran theology and practice, and to learn how the faith is lived daily. "We cannot perpetuate these and other teachings, unless we train the people who come after us to succeed us in our office and work, so that they in turn may bring up their children successfully. In this way God's Word and a Christian community will be preserved. Therefore let all heads of household remember that it is their duty, by God's injunction and command, to teach their children or have them taught the things they ought to know." Martin Luther, The Large Catechism
This is a year-long study on the Gospel according to Luke, coinciding with the weekly lectionary readings for the year, as well as Christmas season. The class will be a careful study of the text (from the Greek), but also consider the rich theology and sacramental themes. Also considered are the cultural and literary aspects from Luke's Gospel, as unfolded in his narrative. All ages are welcome! Please consider coming as a family. Sundays, 9:30. Elevator Room.
We are starting a brand new bible study and you are invited to join! January is a great month for forming new habits. What better habit than weekly studying God’s Word with your fellow brothers and sisters?
The study is on the book of Genesis, utilizing the Living Way Bible Study lessons as a guide, which will be supplemented by topical teachings by Pastor Heaton. Beginning on January 9th, the study meets on Wednesdays at 10 am. There are light refreshments provided.
If you have never considered a formal, group setting for the study of God’s Word, please prayerfully consider this one. It is crucial for the health of our congregation, as well as our families, that we are being formed and shaped by what God has to say to us in Holy Scripture. His Word is living and active, and grounds us in His will and centers us in His Son Jesus Christ.
If this is not a time that suits your schedule, but you are interested in attending a bible study, please contact Pastor Heaton.
